work in progress

I am continuing to work on this painting. I have worked in a dark under-painting for the bottom third in the first example and applied the foreground over it in the second. I have a few things to work out yet, and should have it finished shortly.

Sky

Working on a new painting. I have roughed in the sky on this one and added some cloud cover and I will continue to work on that. I am undecided at this time on the lower part of this painting.

update

I'm working on a new painting with lots of sky and vivid color. Plan to have a red orange horizon with silhouettes in a scene at dusk.

Wilderness Landscape

After some minor changes, this painting is finished and will be listed on my Etsy website. My intent here was to capture the quality of light at sunset in this wilderness surrounding.

Mountain View

A few minor changes and this painting is now listed on Etsy.

Purple Sage

This new painting is something a little different. I used a fan brush almost exclusively on this one. It gives this work a light, airy, impressionistic feel. It is 11 X 14 on Ampersand archival quality gesso board panel and is now listed in my Etsy shop.

Painting in Progress

I am posting a preview of a painting I started recently. I have painted the sky "in wet" using a combination of Thalo Blue and Red Oxide, and white, and later painted in the lighter highlights
after the underpaint had dried. I have not decided exactly what will complete the foreground as yet. This painting will be completed shortly and available for sale in my Etsy shop.

Maine Coast at Evening

This painting, set in Acadia National Park, is now available in print form. Copy and paste the following link. http://www.artistrising.com/products/428891/Maine-Coast-at-Evening.htm

Painting in Progress

I will from time to time, on this blog, give an update of a painting I am working on. I have always liked the work of the American impressionist George Sotter, and especially his night paintings. This influence has led me to create one of my own. This painting has the under-painting in and the sky almost complete. I used a combination of thalo blue and cadmium red light for the dark values and painted the cloud cover in-wet. At completion this painting will be posted here and in my Etsy shop.

Open Plain

This original painting is 21 X 28 on gallery wrapped canvas. It's mid-western theme comes from a series of photographs I shot recently. Colors are hookers green, yellow oxide, magenta. This painting can be seen in my Etsy shop.

Blue Ridge Mountain Sunset

I recently sold the original painting of this impressionistic color study of light at evening on the Blue Ridge Parkway. I have authorized prints of this work for sale on Artist Rising.

Bryce Canyon Landscape

Today I am posting another desert southwest painting. I enjoy visiting the national parks and have developed several paintings from these areas of the country. This painting is on gallery wrapped canvas and can be hung with or without frame. The size is 22 X 28. I also offer prints of this painting at artist rising. Links for both are at top right of this blog.
