New Landscape

I am working on a new landscape and posting progress as it comes together. In the lower image I am concentrating on the lights and darks and establishing a color theme. In the middle image I have detailed more of the rock formation and added some highlights in the grass. The top image
has more detail and I have slightly darkened the foreground. This painting will be finished in a few days and will be listed in my Etsy shop.

Southwestern Desert

This new original painting of the desert is inspired by a trip to the Arizona and Utah areas of the Southwest. Red and Blue dominate this painting and help to emphasize the hot color temperature in the foreground contrasted with the snow capped mountains in the distance.

MEDIA: Original acrylic painting on 1 1/4 gallery wrapped canvas with sides painted. May be hung with or without frame. Sealed with archival varnish.

Canyonland

This new original painting of the Grand Canyon is inspired by a trip to the Arizona and Utah areas of the Southwest. Cool purple, red, and blue in the background and warm yellow and green in the foreground help suggest the perspective of this vast area. This painting is available in my Etsy shop.

Purple Sage

This new painting is something a little different. I used a fan brush almost exclusively on this one. It gives this work a light, airy, impressionistic feel. It is 11 X 14 on Ampersand archival quality gesso board panel and is now listed in my Etsy shop.

Red Desert

Welcome to my first day of posting on this blog.

Today I am posting one of my paintings from the desert southwest. I enjoy painting this area of the country and am amazed by the vast array of color found here. This original panoramic acrylic painting is 18 X 28 on gallery wrapped canvas. I extend my paintings to include all edges and this painting can be hung as is without frame if desired.
