Work in Progress

I am working on a new nightscape. I have admired the work of George William Sotter, especially his night paintings, and have used this same theme occasionally. I used three coats of Cadmium Orange and Ultramarine Blue mixed for the background. The second photograph has some additional detail added. This painting will be listed on Etsy when finished.

Midwestern Moon

SOLD
This is the completed painting I previewed a few days ago. It is an original on gallery wrapped canvas with the 1 1/4 sides painted so it could be hung with or without frame. I like the work of the American impressionist George Sotter and that was the inspiration for this painting. It is 18 X 24 and will be for sale in my Etsy shop.

Painting in Progress

I will from time to time, on this blog, give an update of a painting I am working on. I have always liked the work of the American impressionist George Sotter, and especially his night paintings. This influence has led me to create one of my own. This painting has the under-painting in and the sky almost complete. I used a combination of thalo blue and cadmium red light for the dark values and painted the cloud cover in-wet. At completion this painting will be posted here and in my Etsy shop.
